Trigger Point Injections are used to break the scar tissue (knot) cycle of spasm in the muscle fibers that have been strained/contracted for a period of time.
Once the scar tissue forms (in your neck, mid or low back) it takes decreasing inflammation, stretching and strengthening to help heal that muscle. The injection will help the muscle regain elasticity and allow the muscle fibers to become stretchy without the use of steroids or narcotics. A numbing medicine is used to decrease inflammation and break down the scar tissue so that your muscle can heal. You may experience slight numbness at the injection site and sometimes some mild discomfort and or bruising. It is important that you stay well hydrated on treatment days.
